Umrao Jaan and Memoirs of a Geisha

These two are basically the same, but that one is set in India and the other in Japan.
Both is a sad story about a young girl who under unfortunate circumstances separates from her family and ends up in a place where they are taught on the art of pleasing men by whatever means(art, dance, beauty, poetry, sharp wit) to make a filthly amount of money to maintain luxurious life style. Both have a ritualistic first initiation, their virginity auctioned off to the highest bidder!. The girls then do the most forbidden thing, they fall in love and heartbreak follows.

Hated/slept thru the aishwarya rai's umrao jaan...learned a lesson, will never go for another movie JUST to see aishwarya rai, she is not that breathtakingly beautiful any more, not her fault though, the surprise element is lacking since she looks the same in all traditional outfits.
Dont know if I have enough energy/enthu left in me to watch rekha's UJ and decide which one is better...I am really big on watching both the original and the remake and pass judgement on which one i think is better...I watched manichitra thaaz again after 6 years after chandramukhi for the same reason..but apparently I seem to realize i dont care much, don - not interested becuase this one had Mr.King Sttutter Khan and other had Mr.I-dont-think-you-are-all-that-great-bachaan[ my husband might divorce me for saying this :-) ]....heard they are going to make a Billa remake in tamil with ajith, billa was a remake of old don with rajini[ i finally gave up my claim with my husband that don was remade from billa ! ]. ..god!!!!!! And frankly this hobby of mine will be very time consuming this period feels like holly-bolly-kolly wood is all celebrating a 2007-2008-remake mela.

where was I, oh!. right...UJ and MG both crapppppppy !!!! two smart women, wanting to put their lives through crap happily to attain crapdom and loving crappy guys for crappy reasons and leading a crappy life every after!!!!

God what a waste...!....my blog writing efforts are much little waste than theirs :-)
