Cheeni Kum - Taste Zyadha!

The music of Chenni Kum by Illayaraj is anything but cheeni kum. Its sweet, tasteful, amazing, great, and divine. His eternal melody in Tamil made available in Hindi for a wider audience.

Whenever I used to listen and sing along to "Kuzhaloodhum Kannanukku Kuyil paatu kekkuta ..koo koo" and etc. I would deeply wish that my husband would love and enjoy these songs just like the way I do. This album gives us such a rare and a delicious oppurtunity.

Bangalore is so romantic these days with its May-Chillness, which itself is a miracle for a chennaite like me. How can it be possibile to be using blankets and sipping hot coffee in MAY when we are supposed to be dealing with mangoes and mores( butter milk) and the Katiri Veyil( Scissor Sun(?)). Its more more cruel than that isnt it when earth practically is a Tandoor(oven) for humans.

Way too off the line..getting back to cheeni kum, the songs, in hindi capture the real essensce of the songs in Tamil and thus retain their worship worthy quality.

Baatein Hawa - Kuzhal Oodhum Kannanukku (Mella thirandhadhu kadhavu )
Cheeni Kum - Mandram Vandha Thendralluku ( Mouna Ragam )
Sooni Sooni - Mandram Vandha Thendralluku ( Mouna Ragam )
Melody Sax's - En Illaya Pon Nillave
Jaane Do Naa - New for me, but is a 80's telgu song apparently.
Theme Melody - Original, dont know, but it takes me back to the times of my old infautated self :-)

BTW, we are having an official date tonight, a date to enjoy each other and sing along with good music, a welcome change from a date with good food you see :-) But Illayaraj's music is soothing and grand enough to fill my soul let alone my ever rumbling tummy.

DIVINE, DELICIOUS, DELIGHFUL !

Illayaraj ! The God !

Raja rocks. True pity that he has not managed to market himself to a broader Indian, if not global audience, like A.R Rehman. You should hear some of his symphony and albums, if you have'nt already. It is nice to know that laregre Indian audience is finally waking up to this genius.

I totally disagree with Raghu. Ilayaraja is know internationally that ARR. Just because ARR tours the USA doesnt mean that he is known here in the US, only desi people in US know him. IR is the only international composer from India. Please dont demean IR by comparing him with ARR.
